The New Mog wings

Monday, June 29th, 2009

I called in to see Sid Watson today, at his works in March. Cambridgeshire. He has the honour of making the new set of wings for my Mog. Or rather it should be that I have the honour of having four fine examples of his craftsmanship on my car: when it gets back on the road, that is !

The ex-Dave Rutherfords moulds had been coated with about 2 mm of red gel, which is close to the red that the car is, and when set, layers and layers of glass fibre are laid on with more coloured resin, and a reinforcing bar bonded along the underside of the front wings. They will be allowed to completely cure overnight, before Sid removes them from the moulds and trims them with a diamond blade. Then they will be rushed down to New Elms in Dorset, where Tim Ayres and Darren Bunn will complete the transformation, and make my Mog beautiful again. Retaining the green grille of course!

Just like it’s never been away, doesn’t seem two minutes since the last one, MY hasn’t it grown!

progress for the Mog

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Dave Sapp took these photos of my sad and twisted Mog along with its sparkling new chassis, built by Chassis Supremo Terry Foxon, of G.E.E. Ltd. I thought if I gave him a plug, he might make it even better!

Landie (2)

Friday, June 19th, 2009

This is the latest project. A 1966 S2 Landie, pretty much similar to the one daughter Emily and I acquired last year. This has been standing for about 12 years! It needs a bit of work doing before it hits the road, probably just as well I am not wasting time in my Mog!
