The good news is that my Mog is to be rebuilt, and the better news is that Tim Ayres, mogspert of New Elms in Dorset has been commissioned to carry out the work with his number1 Darren Bunn. Tim’s workshop is fast gaining a reputation for high quality work and problem fixing. The insurance assessor who visited New Elms told me that he was very impressed with the set-up there. A new set of grp wings has been ordered from Sid Watson from Cambridge, who is a renowned wizzard with grp production, some years ago he made a half-size motorised replica of a Mog which has appeared at the Le Mans Classic, and has also devised a grp hardtop for Mogs.

My trustee Mog recently failed to negotiate a bend on the Cat and Fiddle, a notorious road between Macclesfield and Buxton. It mounted a kerb, crossed a verge and attempted to surf a dry stone wall. It failed, and landed in a field, demolishing a barbed wire fence in the process. The car is rather warped, chassis twisted, front suspension and steering a different shape. Ho hum. the joys of motoring. It is now in Dorset, awaiting the insurance assessor’s verdict. Watch this space.
