Last match of the season…..

Does that mean summer is over? The last bowls match of the season is this evening, our team should end up in the lower half of the league, but certainly not bottom! A much better season than last year, but we seem to have played an awful lot of matches in the rain! We looked like a team this year, all the players wearing logo’d-up polo shirts, now why are they not called bowls shirts? Watch this space for the result of tonights game!

The pies: superbly gob-smackingly good! made from Gloucester Old Spots. Must try and find where to buy them: these were at Ashover Show.
Pots: Erm, yes: James on the top of the podium with the Novices Trophy he won at the MSCC Autosolo at Gaydon, Emily on the second rung of the podium with her First in Class pot.

Me: zilch, zip… nowt. But at least I ate the pie!

I called in to a local TIC today, to ask about getting a card to play golf at a concessionary rate. The girl at the TIC didn’t know much about them at all, but phoned her mum to ask her Dad from where he got his in Sheffield! Seems a bit unjust though, as you can get one of these cards if you live in Sheffield, and get a concessionary rate at Tapton Golf course in Chesterfield, but no concessionary rates for we who live in Derbyshire?

With a Land Rover, you get used to patches of oil on your drive, if there are no oil leaks from a Landie, there is no oil in it! So I could be excused for not noticing this patch ( and a couple of others) It wasn’t until the Tormog Noggin last night, when Simon Baines greeted me with ‘Hey up Smithy, you are dripping oil’ I then discovered the sump drain plug was loose, and I’d lost about 4 pints of engine oil! So, thank you, the Plumber from Marple, as otherwise, I would surely have run out of the liquid gold on my way to the Three Sisters Sprint, and the MSCC Autosolo.

You saw it here first! Announcing the birth of another green grille* It is an additional air inlet hopefully to draw more air into the engine bay. We will see how it works out over the next few sprints!

* It isn’t actually ‘green’ but flourescent yellow!

Generally called ‘bottle of wine’ days! After a long hard week, a bottle of wine and an Indian take-away is one of the ultimate wind-downs. But am I taking things too far? I have just called the local Indian Take-away, placed my order, and he said “Mr Richard, right”? Not even asking for my address or phone number! But, the food from Polash in Dronfield Woodhouse is absolutely superb.
